Premier, Acadie-Bathurst MP visit Shippagan campuses for construction update

Acadie-Bathurst MP Serge Cormier and Premier Brian Gallant were in Shippagan on Thursday to visit an $11 million collaboration project involving the Université de Moncton, Shippagan campus, and the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick, Acadian Peninsula campus.

The Irène-Léger pavilion is being expanded by 29,000 square feet, with the province investing $6.37 million and the federal government funding another $5.01 million.

The province says the foundation and steel frame of the new building are complete, and a new sprinkler system has been installed in the heritage building of the Université de Moncton’s Shippagan campus.

Renovations have been done in the wing already occupied by the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick.

The project is expected to be complete by September 2018.
