Property Assessment and Tax Notices mailed out today

Service New Brunswick says 2019 Property Assessment and Tax Notices are being mailed out today.

Property owners are encouraged to call or go online with any questions about their assessment.

Steve Ward, Executive Director of Property Assessment says assessment staff are "ready to discuss the assessment, review the property information on file with the owner to ensure it is up-to-date, and explain how the value was determined."

Service New Brunswick says the lifting of last year's property assessment freeze is not expected to have much effect, and the real estate market has not experienced significant growth in property valuation in the last two years which has resulted in minimal impact on assessments.

The agency says a special team of assessors has been set up to deal with those impacted by last year's flooding, with 3,000 flooded properties visited and assessments calculated based on information provided by home owners at that time.
