Province hires diversity and respect leads for schools

New Brunswick has hired 15 diversity and respect leads to work in the province's schools.

The leads are teachers who are specialized in the area of diversity and respect.

Education Minister Brian Kenny said they'll help ensure the school environment is safe, welcoming and affirming for all students.

"One of the objectives in our 10-year education plans is to ensure that all learners value diversity and have a strong sense of belonging," said the Bathurst-West-Beresford MLA.

The province highlighted the leads on Wednesday, February 22nd, which was Pink Shirt Day, an initiative to promote and celebrate diversity and respect in schools.
