Province, Ottawa funding culvert replacement
The provincial and federal governments are investing a combined $600,000 to replace a deteriorating culvert on Red Head Road in Mispec.
A release says the corrugated steel culvert at the Mispec Beach outlet will be replaced with a marine-grade concrete culvert.
The existing culvert is compromised, leaving large gaps where material from the embankment is washing into the culvert.
Funding from the province is provided through the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure's $493-million capital budget, with federal funding coming from the Rural and Northern infrastructure Communities Stream of the Investing in Canada infrastructure plan.
Both the federal and provincial governments are contributing $300,000 towards the project.
