Province receives feedback on response to devastating January ice storm
NB Power's response to a devastating ice storm in January that left more than 130,000 customers without electricity was less than ideal according to those attending recent public meetings being held as part of a post-action review.
Some attendees say the utility's restoration efforts appeared to be uncoordinated while others complained of a lack of fuel to power generators.
Public Safety Minister Denis Landry, who was without power for six days, says some of his constituents say municipalities could have done more to help.
The Bathurst-East-Nepisiguit-Saint-Isidore MLA is certain there are many areas that can be improved ahead of any future crisis.
Two public meetings remain in the tour:
Wednesday, April 5th at the Club d'age d'Or in Lameque;
Thursday, April 6th at the Club d'age d'Or in Bas Caraquet.
Recommendations stemming from the public meetings will be presented to the government by July.
