QMJHL & Blainville-Boisbriand Armada mourn death of 18-year-old hockey player

The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League are morning the loss of a young hockey player.

The QMJHL says 18-year-old Armada forward Alec Reid died unexpectedly Sunday morning due to complications related to epilepsy.

Reid had been under the watchful eye of a doctor and neurologist for some time and hasn't played since February 19th because of recent epilepsy seizures.

QMJHL commissioner Gilles Courteau says it's heartbreaking to have a young man, who had his whole life in front of him, pass away so unexpectedly.

Reid was traded to Blainville-Boisbriand in January following 26 games with the Drummondville Voltigueurs.
