Rain and warmer temperatures result in cancellation of Sled Dogs Snowskates' Bonefight

Rain and warmer temperatures in the forecast have resulted in the cancellation of an international downhill competition scheduled this weekend in Atholville.

The third annual Sled Dogs Snowskates' Bonefight was to take place on Saturday at Sugarloaf Provincial Park but has been called off due to trail conditions and concerns for safety.

Organizers are considering holding next year's event earlier in the seasons, but Bruno Richard says Mother Nature's behaviour can't be guaranteed.

It's a disappointment the Chaleur Region knows all too well.

After two successful seasons, organizers had to cancel the Xtreme Crashed Ice downhill race held on College Hill in Bathurst due to unseasonable temperatures which wreaked havoc on track conditions.
