RCMP's commissioner steps down after nearly four decades

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be looking for a new leader.

After 39 years as a Mountie, RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson is stepping down to focus more on his family.

In announcing his retirement, Paulson cited numerous challenges facing the national police force including historical yet persistent harassment claims, restoring the mental and emotional well-being of members and improving the workplace.

Paulson's last day at work will be June 30th.
