Report confirms 'poisoned work environment' in Extended Care Unit at Chaleur Regional Hospital
An independent investigator has confirmed there is a 'poisoned work environment' within the Extended Care Unit (4th West) at Chaleur Regional Hospital.
The Vitalité Health Network says the report follows a series of allegations and harassment complaints by the unit's staff members, adding that the recommendations from the report will be implemented.
Some of the issues identified include lack of action and follow-up from management staff in implementing some policies, changes being implemented too quickly and clumsily, negative and inappropriate comments made by certain workers, and excessive tolerance for inappropriate behaviours and language.
A press release says the independent expert met nearly 40 employees and gathered over 1,000 pages of documentation for the report, which was submitted to the Network's senior management.
The health network says it will conduct formal follow-ups over the next two years to assess the work environment.
