Report paints bleak picture of Tracadie's finances

A new report is paining a bleak picture of Tracadie's finances.

Mayor Denis Losier has been sounding the alarm over his community's finances for the past two years and says the report by Dieppe accounting firm E6 International is concrete proof of deficiencies that have persisted at town hall for years.

The firm found five separate payroll systems within the municipality, the absence of human resources records, misapplied accounting standards, as well as no follow-up on the cost of capital projects.

It says problems stem from an internal culture going back several years and recommends coaching employees and, establishing specific job descriptions and regular performance reviews.
