Resource shortage means no more weekend services at Dalhousie walk-in clinic

A walk-in clinic in Dalhousie will no longer be open on weekends and its hours of operation and services have been modified until further notice.

The Vitalite Health Network says the changes at the St. Joseph Community Health Centre are effective immediately and are due to a lack of medical resources.

During the week, the clinic will keep its regular schedule, however services will be split between either a doctor, nurse practitioner or registered nurse, depending on the day of the week and time of day.

Vitalite president and CEO Gilles Lanteigne is disappointed with the decision, but says the shortage left the network with little choice.

Those needed to see a doctor are asked to make an appointment with their family doctor or to visit the emergency department of their nearest hospital.
