Restigouche-Chaleur M.L.A. says he'll remain Speaker of N.B. Legislature

The Liberal MLA for the Restigouche-Chaleur riding says he plans to remain Speaker of New Brunwick's Legislature.

This after Tory premier-designate Blaine Higgs said earlier this week his government will be sworn into office on Friday.

Daniel Guitard says he would only resign from the Speaker position if asked to by the Liberals' leader, or if Higgs's government takes actions contrary to his principals.

Guitard says issues like language and the treatment of rural communities are of particular importance to him.
