Restigouche politicians demand action on local road conditions
Politicians in the Restigouche Region say the roads in Northern New Brunswick are too icy and they want the government to do something about it.
Municipal representative for St. Jean-Baptiste and Menneval, Burt Paulin says a lack of staff and equipment in this part of the province are to blame.
The Tribune reports that the Restigouche Regional Service Commission recently sent a letter to the province's transportation minister demanding he take action.
The department of transportation denies there are issues with equipment and staffing in the area but that there were short-term break downs that were rectified as quickly as possible.
Campbellton-Dalhousie MLA Guy Arseneault meanwhile, believes the province needs to revisit where it gets its services from.
Arseneault adds an engineer should also be hired for the area.
