Restigouche region hosting Atlantic Liberal caucus this week
Liberal MPs from all four Atlantic provinces are set to gather in the Restigouche region this week for their annual caucus.
The meetings are an opportunity for the MPs to prepare files and compile local concerns ahead of the Grits' national caucus taking place in Saskatoon this September.
Madawaska-Restigouche MP Rene Arseneault says forestry, fisheries, and a dwindling population may not be hot topics for urban centres like Toronto or Montreal, but local MPs intend to brief their counterparts on issues faced in this part of the country.
The MPs will also become aquatinted with several of the region's flagship businesses and be briefed on such files as the development of the region's maple industry, the fight against the spruce budworm as well as the protection of Atlantic salmon.
The meetings take place Wednesday though Friday.
