Robert Knowles Veterans Wing residents to use "green thumbs" to celebrate Canada 150

Residents of the Robert Knowles Veterans' Wing in Bathurst will become better connected with nature, keep active while celebrating Canada's 150th anniversary.

The facility received $1,600 from Bathurst Sustainable Development under the New Horizons for Seniors project entitled:  NB Seniors Celebrate Canada's Environment 150.

The funds will assist seniors living in 10 residential living facilities to stay active outdoors, become more connected with nature, while sharing their knowledge about gardening with other residents, staff, and visitors.

Bathurst Sustainable Development's Brenda Kelley says the residents chose to purchase a garden shed for their garden area which will be decorated in red and white as part of Canada 150 celebrations.
