Royal family visit in September cost millions, documents show

(CP) - Hosting the royals on a Canadian visit doesn't come cheap.

Documents show the R-C-M-P spent two-million dollars on policing September's eight-day visit to B-C and Yukon by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their two children.

Yukon's tourism department spent 11-thousand dollars for the short time Prince William and Kate spent in the territory.

One-third of that was spent on the software needed to implement the Morse code translation in a royal-welcome tweet from a Whitehorse museum using Second World War telegraph technology.
