Sale of Bathurst Legion expected to be finalized in spring

The Royal Canadian Legion Herman J. Good VC Branch #18  in Bathurst has accepted an offer to buy its 50 year old building.

First Vice-President Graham Wiseman tells the Northern Light that members voted to accept the $400,000 offer a few weeks ago.

President Eugene Godin, meanwhile, says the Legion is considering several options which include renting a smaller space or building a new building in partnership with another organization.

Godin says the war museum, currently housed in the building's basement, will be moved to another location and will operate as a separate entity.

The Legion will continue operating at its St. Peter Ave. location until the sale is finalized in April.
