Several candidates acclaimed as nominations for municipal byelections wrap up

Nominations have wrapped up for next month's municipal byelections and several seats have been filled by acclimation.

Bernard Savoie is the new mayor of Sainte-Marie-Saint-Raphael by acclimation.

In Bertrand, Isabelle Nowlan was acclaimed to one council seat while Carole Robichaud won a seat on Paquetville's council by acclimation.

Raymond LeBlanc, Leo Paulin, Line Roussel, and Renalda Savoie are vying for one council seat in Le Goulet.

In Beaubassin East, Richard Ratelle was acclaimed councillor for Ward 4 while David Edward Boudreau, Heather Chase, Rick Liard, Guy Maillet, and Jordan Thompson are vying for a pair of council seats in Blacks Harbour.

Brent MacPherson and Brett Newman are running for mayor in Campobello Island while Jeremy Kilfoil and Trafford are running for one council seat for Ward 2.

Dan Fortier and Phyllis Vezina are running for a single Councillor at Large position in Hanwell while Amelie Frenette was acclaimed councillor in Riviere-Verte.

Anthony Capson, Andrew Costin, Katelin Dean, David Hickey, Frank James, Brad Mitchell, and Adam Salesse are seeking one seat for Saint John's Ward 3.

There were no candidates for one vacant council seat in Salisbury.

Meanwhile, several communities will vote in a plebiscite on weather to form the Rural Community of Rogersville.

Voting is scheduled for May 6th.
