Sherbrooke could attempt to host 2021 Francophonie Games
The Quebec city of Sherbrooke may decide to host the 2021 Francophonie Games.
The international event was to be held in New Brunswick, however the Higgs government recently decided against hosting it when costs ballooned from $17 million to a whopping $130 million.
Sherbrooke's mayor had said the city didn't want to host the games either due to the price tag, however a councillor had urged him to reconsider noting it could be used to update the city's aging infrastructure.
Sherbrooke was a finalist to host the games.
Sherbrooke's city council discussed holding the games at a meeting on Monday night.
A committee has been formed to study the matter.
