Shortage of substitute teachers persists in Anglophone North School District
Northern New Brunswick is still facing a shortage of substitute teachers.
Recent job fairs in Bathurst and Campbellton resulted in a few more supply teachers, however Anglophone North School District superintendent Mark Donovan says there are still not enough to cover sick days, sick leave or other circumstances.
Donovan says the district has increased the number of days retired teachers can substitute in an effort to address the problem.
He adds the district is also experiencing a shortage of other positions like custodians, school bus drivers, intervention workers and librarians.
Anglophone North currently has 619 permanent teaching positions.
