Speaker of N.B. Legislature has no plans of leaving job yet
The Speaker of New Brunswick's Legislature says he'll hold onto the job for the time being, despite recent controversial decisions by the governing Tories.
After cuts in infrastructure spending and an on-going controversy relating to AmbulanceNB, Liberal Speaker, and Restigouche-Chaleur MLA, Daniel Guitard says he's thought about ditching the job to sit with his party as an opposition MLA.
When the Tories formed government Guitard agreed to remain Speaker as long as the Higgs government did nothing contrary to his principles, a line he says hasn't been crossed yet.
But Guitard says he hasn't ruled out leaving the position if asked to do so by his party for strategic reasons.
