Standoff in Bathurst comes to peaceful end
It was a peaceful resolution to a tense situation in a Bathurst neighbourhood on Tuesday.
Police blocked off a part of Vanier Boulevard and 'hold-and-secure' protocols were enacted at nearby schools as a man, officers suspected to be in possession of firearms, barricaded himself inside a home on Saint Joseph Street.
The 20-year-old man eventually surrendered to police without incident.
He was escorted to hospital following what police say was a 'mental health crisis'.
