StatsCan: N.B. economy sheds 7,300 full-time jobs in July
New Brunswick’s economy shed 7,300 full-time jobs in July, according to new numbers from Statistics Canada.
The latest labour force survey, released Friday, shows the unemployment rate rose to 8.5 per cent.
StatsCan says the large drop in full-time jobs was partially offset by the addition of 2,600 part-time positions.
Year-over-year, employment increased by 1,500 jobs, but the unemployment rate still rose as more people searched for work.
