Thefts from Bathurst 'Flags of Remembrance' display prompts installation of surveillance cameras
Surveillance cameras have been installed on the Causeway Bridge in Bathurst after thieves struck a national display honouring fallen veterans several times last week.
Several sponsored plaques and Canadian flags were taken from the Flags of Remembrance Tribute since it was installed over a week ago.
The plaques have since been removed from the flag poles and are currently on display at the Royal Canadian Legion Herman J. Good VC Branch #18.
On behalf of the City of Bathurst, corporate communications manager Luc Foulem says the thefts demonstrate a clear lack of respect for our fallen soldiers.
The cameras were already a part of city assets so there was no additional purchasing cost.
