Three arrested for stealing from vehicles in Moncton

An 18-year-old man and 2 male youths from Moncton have been arrested in connection with a number of recent thefts from vehicles in Moncton.

Police were called around 3:30 a.m. Thursday for individuals checking vehicles in the Royal Road area.

Officers located the three people at the scene and placed them under arrest with all three appearing in court later that day.

RCMP say 18-year-old Matthew Collette is charged with violating a probation order and theft from a motor vehicle and is due back in court on July 4 to enter a plea.

Police say a 17-year-old youth is charged with violating a probation order, obstruction of a police officer and theft from a motor vehicle and is being held for a bail hearing on Monday.

A 16-year-old youth is charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, obstruction of a police officer and theft under $5,000.

RCMP say he was released and is due back in court July 3 to enter a plea.

The investigation is ongoing.
