Three Restigouche Region communities team up to save on solid waste, recycling costs
Three Northern New Brunswick municipalities have teamed up in an effort to save money on solid waste disposal and recycling.
Atholville, Balmoral, and Charlo chipped in to purchase a garbage & recycling truck and will share costs associated with the collection of waste and recyclables.
The municipalities made the move when it was discovered they were facing a nearly 40 per cent cost increase with a private contractor.
The collaboration will last seven years, the amount of time it will take to pay off the $378,000 truck.
