Tory MLA questions environmental safety and viability of Sisson Mine project

The proposed Sisson Mine project northwest of Fredericton is being questioned by a Progressive Conservative MLA.

Ernie Steeves told reporters on Wednesday, February 23rd, that the proposed open-pit mine is "dangerously close" to the Nashwaak River watershed.

He also questioned the project's viability given the drop in mineral prices.

But Environment Minister Serge Rousselle said mine proponent Northcliff Resources will likely use long-term price forecasts to make its decision.
