Tracadie man sentenced on child pornography-related charges

A Tracadie man has been sentenced to five-and-a-half years behind bars on five charges relating to child pornography and sexually touching a minor.

The man's name is subject to a court-ordered publication in order to protect the identity of the young victim.

He was arrested in October of 2018 after RCMP received information from investigators in the US.

Police seized a computer from his home, which contained thousands photos, including seven of the victim, along with 240 videos.

In addition to prison time, the man is ordered to provide police with a DNA sample, must register with the National Sex Offender Registry, and must abide by conditions including not being in a place where children under the age of 16 would reasonably be found.
