Tracadie's mayor says he will not step down, will run again in 2020

Tracadie mayor Denis Losier says he won't be stepping down even though the province's Minister of Environment and Local Government suggested he should earlier this week.

This after Jeff Car denied Losier's request to put Tracadie in provincial trust and suggested the mayor resign if he's unable to resolve the crisis plaguing his municipality.

Losier still hopes to discuss the situation of, what he called, a divided council and toxic environment at city hall, with the minister.

Losier says he hopes to explain to Carr, in person, his reasons for requesting Tracadie be put in trust.

The mayor adds he intends to run again in the 2020 municipal election.
