Tracadie sorting centre feeling pinch amidst saturated market and collapsing price of recyclables

A sorting centre on the Acadian Peninsula is feeling the pinch from falling prices affecting the international recyclables market.

With a saturated market and collapsing prices for recyclables, La Cooperative de Solidarite en Recyclage et d'Integration a l'Emploi(CSRIE) executive director Roger Comeau says his group is only getting about a third of what it used to for  materials like cardboard and paper.

Comeau says the non-profit cooperative, located in Tracadie, isn't in immediate danger but is walking a fine line between running a deficit and profitability.

The CSRIE provides jobs to approximately 15 people with disabilities.
