Transportation Safety Board investigating after bulk carrier runs aground near Belledune
The Transportation Safety Board is trying to figure out why a bulk carrier ran aground near Belledune.
Transportation Safety Board's Pierre Murray says none of the 23 crew were injured when the SBI Carioca hit a shoal Wednesday morning.
He says the extent of the damage is not yet known, but adds the vessel's hull was not breached and none of the 65,000 metric tonnes of petcoke it was carrying leached into the environment.
Murray says his team will examine data from the ship's voyage data recorder and expects the investigation to take, at least, a few days to complete.
