Two Bathurst schools to offer early French immersion in the fall
Two Bathurst schools are among 67 others in the province that will offer early French immersion programs.
The province announced on Thursday, April 13th that Terry Fox Elementary and Parkwood Heights Elementary would offer the program beginning in the fall.
Premier Brian Gallant says the province is restoring French immersion to Grade One because studies show earlier is better when it comes to learning a second language.
The province has also announced a pilot project to provide more opportunities where there is some interest in immersion but not enough to warrant the creation of an immersion class.
Other Anglophone North District schools to offer early French immersion incude:
- Blackville School
- Gretna Green School
- King St. Elementary School
- L. E. Reinsborough School
- Lord Beaverbrook School

We've reached out to Education Minister and Bathurst-West-Beresford MLA Brian Kenny for comment.
