Two canola traits approved by China good for Canadian producers: Canola Council
The Canola Council of Canada says a decision by China bodes well for Canadian producers.
The council says China has approved two canola traits developed using biotechnology that will open the door for new seed genetics.
This will allow Canadian farmers to grow a lot more canola on the same amount of land.
Council president Jim Everson says the new traits will make Canada's canola crop more resilient in the face of weed, disease and weather stresses.
China is Canada's largest canola seed customer.
