Two unions inviting Cannabis N.B. employees to join their ranks

As the New Brunswick government considers privatizing legal cannabis sales after its crown-owned retailer posted a n $11.7 million loss, two unions are trying to convince Cannabis NB employees to join their ranks.

The Acadie-Nouvelle reports the Canadian Union of Public Employees and the New Brunswick Union have been trying to recruit Cannabis NB's approximately 300 employees since the Crown-owned retailer opened its doors in October.

Cannabis NB's Marie-Andree Bolduc says unionizing is the employees' right and that they're encouraged to ask questions and make an informed decision.

New Brunswick Union's Susie Proulx-Daigle, meanwhile, says unionization important for protecting the employees' livelihood.
