Two women arrested for shoplifting, then arrested by CBSA

Edmundston Police say two women will face charges of theft under $5,000 after a number of incidents in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Police say the 21- and 24-year-old were arrested at a grocery store in the city, and merchandise valued at $850 was recovered.

They were identified as responsible for thefts at various big-box stores and pharmacies in the two provinces.

Edmundston Police say the pair were released from custody and were immediately placed under arrest by officers from the Canadian Border Services Agency, though police did not say why.
