Upcoming 'bully proof' camp aims to build strength and confidence

An upcoming summer camp aims to give Chaleur region youth the tools they need to become 'bully proof'.

Fudoshin Judo Academy's Mark Lavigne says every child has the right to be unique and attend places like school without being 'socially dominated' by others.

It's the third year for the camp and the first, Lavigne says, that there's a Judo component to it.

He says the camp aims to provide kids with coping strategies and, if needed, physical skills to protect themselves from becoming victims of bullying.

Lavigne hopes to develop a sense of strength and self confidence in participants so they can reach their full potential.

He says strength is something that is not found, but rather built.

The camp runs July 16th to 20th.
