***UPDATED: DBRC elects new president at AGM

The Downtown Bathurst Revitalization Corporation held its annual general meeting on Tuesday, October 25th.

Members elected Sylvain Lagace as the DBRC's new board president.

He replaces Steven White who stepped down after approximately 12 years as president.

White will remain with the board but in the role of "Past President".

White says the DBRC had a great year with many successes and a number of events it can build upon including the Phantom Biker Bash, Hospitality Days and the Promenade Waterfront.

He says there are many positive things happening, including recent improvements to downtown facades, adding that it's great to see people and businesses investing in the downtown core.

White says he's enjoyed his time as president of the DBRC.

He says he was born and raised in Bathurst felt it important to give back to a city that has given so much to him.

Lagacy, meanwhile, says he wants to see more partnerships with the City and more development downtown.

He says a vibrant city begins with having a vibrant downtown core.

DBRC treasurer Cathy McLaughlin says the corporation lived within its financial means and finished the year with revenues over expenditures of $61,782.00.

The DBRC approved its $85,000 budget for 2017 which will be paid for by a special levy collected from downtown merchants.

City council will vote on the budget at a future meeting.
