The RCMP say Benoit Bertin of Tracadie has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, and one count of arson following a house fire in Six Roads.

The 19-year-old appeared in Tracadie Provincial Court on Tuesday afternoon and was sent for a 30 day psychiatric evaluation.

He's scheduled to return to court on December 13th.

A house on Route 150 in Six roads was completely engulfed in flames when police arrived on scene early Sunday morning.

One man was able to get out of the house, and was taken to hospital in Fredericton, while a Bertin was located a short distance away and arrested.

A search of the burned out home on Monday led to the discovery of a man and woman, and investigators are working to confirm their identities, as well as whether or not anyone else was inside the house.
