'We will never forget those we lost on August 10, 2018': Premier Higgs

New Brunswick Government

Premier Blaine Higgs has issued a statement on the anniversary of the shooting in Fredericton on August 10, 2018.

One year ago civilians Donnie Robichaud and Bobbie-Lee Wright and Fredericton Police Constables Ara Burns and Robb Costello were shot at an apartment complex on the city's northside.

Higgs says, "though it is impossible to return to life as it was before the shootings took place, we will continue to build on the strength, compassion and kindness that was displayed in the aftermath, because that is who we are as New Brunswickers."

He added the terrible incident left the City of Fredericton and the entire province in shock, adding it was something that was never expected to happen in our neighbourhoods or to people we know.

The Hands and Hearts Across the City event will mark the anniversary when residents form a human chain across the Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge and along the Saint John River, as it was days after the tragedy a year ago.

In the statement, Higgs said he and Marcia, along with all New Brunswickers, send their thoughts and prayers to the families and friends of the victims, adding we will never forget those we lost on August 10, 2018.
