Work begins on third phase of Rue Principale rebuild

If your commute includes Rue Principale in Beresford, you may want to leave a few minutes earlier.

Work got underway Monday on the third phase of a joint street rebuild project between the Town of Beresford and the New Brunswick Government.

The $1.2 million project includes paving the street around Rue des Chalets to Rue Martin, as well as replacing storm sewer piping.

The project is expected to take around 15 weeks to complete.

Beresford is chipping in 15 per cent of the total cost of the project with the remainder of the bill being picked up by the province.

Mayor Jean-Guy Grant says the provincial government is expected to hold a press conference to announce its contribution later this month.

Grant says the project will also include the addition of a sidewalk, but adds Beresford will be paying for that.
