Carrie Underwood Talks New "Sunday Night Football" Opening
Carrie Underwood's partnership with the NFL keeps growing bigger.
Variety reports that Carrie's new song, "The Champion" will be debuted before Super Bowl LII this February.
Carrie has been working with SNF since 2013, taking over the position from Faith Hill, and in past years, when NBC has had the Super Bowl, the opening segment has featured a modified version of the "Sunday Night Football" theme - including this year:
This coming year, Sunday Night Football executive producer Fred Gaudelli asked Carrie to write an original song.
"The Champion" will debut before the big game this February.
Gaudelli has high expectations for the song:
“I think it’s going to become a sports anthem. It’s going to be one of those songs that you see cut to highlights for the next 25 years.”

Of course, Carrie has shared the single with her husband Mike Fisher, and he absolutely loved it
“He would listen to it before playoff games. He was like ‘I want everyone to hear it!’ and I had to tell him, ‘You can’t do that. You can’t play it in the locker room. I’m sorry.’ But that was a good indicator that we were on the right track.”
