12 Songs By Canadian Artists Voted Among Top 500 Of All Time

A dozen songs recorded by eight Canadian artists have been named among the best songs ever.

Céline Dion, Bryan Adams and Michael Bublé each have multiple entries on the fourth annual All Time Top 500 poll by the UK’s Smooth Radio network.

Adams is the highest-ranked Canadian artist on the list, holding the No. 161 spot with “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You.” His song “Heaven” placed 444th.

Dion has three songs: “Because You Loved Me” (No. 355), “Think Twice” (No. 359) and “My Heart Will Go On” (No. 439). 

Bublé’s “Haven’t Met You Yet” is No. 409 and “Home” ranked 443th.

Shania Twain’s “You’re Still The One” is No. 268; Alannah Myles’ “Black Velvet” is No. 456; and Neil Young’s “Heart of Gold” is No. 487.

Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” made the list for the first time, earning No. 239, and Dan Hill’s “Sometimes When We Touch” debuted at No. 352.

UK radio listeners voted George Michael’s “Careless Whisper” the best song of all time, knocking John Lennon’s “Imagine” from the top spot.

While the list is dominated by retro acts like ABBA, The Carpenters and Michael Jackson, contemporary artists like Adele, Beyonce and Ed Sheeran have multiple entries.
