Screen star and rapper Awkwafina will host this year’s iHeartRadio MMVAs in Toronto.
The 29-year-old pop culture phenom will bring her unique talents to the Aug. 26 live broadcast, which will include performances by Shawn Mendes, Meghan Trainor, Alessia Cara, 5 Seconds of Summer, Halsey, and Marshmello ft. Anne-Marie.
Presenters announced so far include World Of Dance judge Derek Hough, Jersey Shore star Jenni “JWOWW” Farley, AGT host Tyra Banks, Take Two star Rachel Bilson, Star Trek Discovery star Sonequa Martin-Green, and Prince Michael Jackson, the 21-year-old son of the late King of Pop.
"A triple threat, Awkwafina is a breakout star of 2018 and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome her as our host,” said Nanci MacLean, vice-president, Bell Media Studios, in a release. "Her voice is unique, vibrant, and brazen, and we can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve."

Awkwafina is a Brooklyn resident whose hilarious YouTube videos include “My Vag” and “NYC Bitche$" and her many TV and film credits include Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and this year’s all-female heist flick Ocean’s 8.
The iHeartRadio MMVAs will be broadcast live on CTV, MTV, and MUCH. Fans can also tune in to the livestream at iHeartRadio.ca and on the iHeartRadio app as well as on Twitter. Virgin stations across Canada will also broadcast the big show.
