Who’s the greatest rock frontman of all time?
“For me, it’s easy – Queen is the greatest band and Freddie [Mercury] is the greatest frontman of all time,” Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose told Atlas By Etihad.
“The band are the greatest because they embraced so many different styles.”
As GnR winds down its Not In This Lifetime tour, Rose said he and his bandmates have done their best to deliver a solid show at each stop.
“We all want to do the best we can for the fans,” he said. “They come wanting a big performance and that is what we want to give them.
“We all push each other to go further in terms of our performance and commitment. It doesn’t matter how many performances you do, every crowd is different and you feed off that.”
At a weekend show in Abu Dhabi, Rose was so ill he could only perform half of the band’s usual 28-song show. “I’ve been throwing up for the last five hours,” he reportedly told the crowd of 25,000. “Instead of cancelling, we’re going to do the best show we can for you.”
Rose later tweeted: “This flu or whatever is a wild ride! Comes in waves. Ur ok till ur not! Felt lame explainin' myself earlier on at the gig but really didn't know how things would play out n' we really wanted to do r best 4 the fans."
