Billie Eilish On Having Tourette's: 'Whatever'

Singer Billie Eilish has opened up about living with Tourette’s syndrome.

“It’s confusing when someone is making a weird face gesture or throwing out their neck,” she told The Fader. “The internet hasn’t really seen the bad ones, because I’m really good at suppressing them. The thing is, the longer you suppress them, the worse they get afterwards.”

Eilish revealed she had the neurological disorder in an Instagram story last November after collections of video clips showing her facial tics appeared online.

“ive never mentioned it on the internet because nobody thinks im deadass,” she wrote at the time, “as well as the fact that ive just never wanted people think of tourettes syndrome everytime they think of me.”

The 17-year-old “Bury a Friend” singer played down her condition. “I’m sure one day everyone will see the tic attacks that happen when I’m stressed and haven’t slept,” she said. “But it could be a lot worse, and it’s not, and I’m grateful for that.

“And you know what, it’s f**king whatever.”

Eilish’s debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? drops on March 29. Last week, she released its fourth single, “Wish You Were Gay.”
