Brett Kissel and Dean Brody were the big winners at the Canadian Country Music Association Awards (CCMAs) on Sunday night in Saskatoon.
Kissel was named Male Artist of the Year and, in a pre-show ceremony, picked up the Interactive Artist of the Year award.
Kissel’s Home Movie was named Country Music Program or Special of the Year and his single “I Didn’t Fall in Love With Your Hair” earned Video of the Year.

Brody won Songwriter of the Year and his Beautiful Freakshow album won Recording Package of the Year.
Accepting the Fan Choice award from Blake Shelton, Brody thanked those who voted for him.
“I love you guys, this is why I make music,” he said. “I really make the music for you guys. I love sharing music with you guys. This award is for you.”
Dallas Smith picked up Single of the Year (for “Autograph”) as well as Album of the Year (Side Effects).
“Holy s**t, thank you,” Smith said while accepting the Single of the Year award. When it came time to accept Album of the Year, he was a bit more eloquent. “This just comes down to you fans, it really does,” said Smith.
“Thank you so much for finding something in my music that inspires you to enjoy. It means the world to me.”
Meghan Patrick earned both Female Artist of the Year (“I’m shaking so hard right now,” she said) and Rising Star (“It’s funny, Rising Star. It feels like I’ve been rising for awhile”).
Group of the Year went to The Road Hammers.
