Brett Kissel, one of the nicest guys in Canadian music, posted a hate-filled tirade on Twitter and Facebook on Wednesday morning — but it’s directed at people who deserve scorn.
In a video message to fans, the country singer warned about scammers posing as him.
“I hate these guys. I don’t know who they are but I hate them,” Kissel fumed. “I hate them with everything that I have.”
According to Kissel, unknown individuals — he called them “snakes” — are attempting to rip off his fans.
He explained: “They’re going to ask you these questions. They’re going to say, ‘How long have you been my fan?’ They’re going to say ‘Hey, can we meet up?’ They’re going to say ‘Don’t tell anybody.’ They’re going to talk about a fundraiser, they’re going to ask for 10 per cent, they’re going to ask for your address, they’re going to ask for your credit card.”
Kissel asked his fans not to just ignore the scammers but to do something to stop them.
“Report them,” he urged. “If you want to engage them a little bit and then stick it to them and tell them how frickin’ stupid they are, do it.
“If it doesn’t come from me, report them.”
In a follow-up tweet, Kissel identified several fake accounts and added: “You are all snakes.”
Earlier this year, Kissel posted a message on Facebook after an imposter allegedly sent messages to some of his fans asking them to pick up a briefcase containing $70,000 from a show he performed. The scammer asked for the victims’ phone number, address and some money.
“What kind of idiot thinks that I would ever get paid in cash and with a briefcase?,” he wrote in a March message.
Both Kissel's Twitter and Facebook accounts are verified.
In his new video message, Kissel didn’t mince words. “I hate these guys. I hate these guys more than I hate anything else in the world. I hate ‘em.
“Screw these guys.”
