Rock legend Bruce Springsteen has been added to the line-up of performers at the closing ceremony of the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto next month.
Organizers said Monday morning that the Boss will take the stage on Sept. 30 along with previously announced Bryan Adams, Bachman & Turner, Kelly Clarkson and Coeur de pirate.
“At the Invictus Games, it’s not just about the hurdles that competitors experienced during competition, but about overcoming the obstacles that life has presented them,” Springsteen said, in a statement.
“The Games are a remarkable opportunity for brothers and sisters in arms to join forces and demonstrate the true strength of their spirit.
“It is an absolute honour and privilege to perform for them.”
The closing ceremony for the Invictus Games will be broadcast on CTV (part of Bell Media, parent company of this website). The network will also air the opening ceremony on Sept. 23 featuring Sarah McLachlan, Alessia Cara and The Tenors.
Prince Harry established the Invictus Games in 2014 to honour wounded active duty members of the armed forces and veterans. More than 550 athletes from 17 countries will compete in Toronto in events including track and field, wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball.
