Bruno Mars Reveals His Secret To Writing Hits For ‘24K Magic’

R&B singer-songwriter Bruno Mars is no stranger to crafting hits, with world conquering numbers like "Uptown Funk," "Locked Out of Heaven," "Treasure," and more under his belt.

Mars recently scored his eight No. 1 on Billboard's Pop Songs airplay chart with his latest single "That's What I Like," which is a feat that has only been accomplished by Justin Timberlake in the 24-year history of the chart. The two share the spot for fifth place; first place is held by Katy Perry and Rihanna with 11 No. 1s, and Maroon 5 and P!nk hold the spot No. 2 with nine a-piece.

Mars spoke to On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Thursday and said the mission for his latest release, 24K Magic, and to produce earworm tracks was to "make the feel good R&B album of the year," "keep everybody guessing," and to "dance more."

"I got to go and perform these songs every night and hopefully write some songs that I feel comfortable singing until the day I die," he said. "So it's important for me that when everyone comes to the show, that I'm genuinely having the time of my life and I'm having a great time. Hopefully it's going to translate and they're just going to feel the energy of me and my band actually playing these songs."

The singer admitted that he went "a little crazy" making this album, but he's happy that he is able to take it on a victory lap around the world on its accompanying world tour. The massive 85-date tour kicked off in Antwerp, Belgium on March 28 and will tour Europe before opening its North American leg on July 15 at Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena.
