Camila Cabello gifted fans on Thursday with two new songs that she had teased earlier this month – “Shameless” and “Liar" – and opened up about her relationship with Shawn Mendes in a new interview.
The tracks, from her forthcoming release Romance, are the first new music from the pop star since her collaboration with Mendes, “Señorita.”
“These songs are basically the story of my life the past couple years and the stories I've accumulated,” Cabello said, in a release. “I knew for a long time I wanted my album to be called Romance because these stories are about falling in love.”
“Shameless” comes with a fiery video directed by Henry Scholfield.
Cabello sings: “Right now I'm shameless / Screamin' my lungs out for ya / Not afraid to face it / I need you more than I want to.”
In “Liar,” she sings: “I said, I won't lose control, I don't want it / I said, I won't get too close but I can't stop it (No) / Oh, no, there you go, you're making me a liar / Got me begging you for more.”
To whom is Cabello referring to?
"Honestly, this past year and a half was the first time I really experienced falling in love with another person," she told Elle. "I think there is so much more depth to love when you know you are in it with another person. You have so much more to say—I think that’s what makes me emotional."
Cabello addressed the couple's silence about their relationship. "People can say whatever they want to say. They can speculate, but at the same time, we are going to live our own lives, enjoy it, and fall for each other like nobody is watching," she explained. "That is how I want to live. I never want to open the door for people to feel like they are involved. Like I said, I want it to be mine and [his]. That’s why I’m so tight-lipped about it: because I want to protect it."
